MY 2 WEEKS AT QLD

FIRST STOP- WARICK SPRING SCHOOL 20TH-21ST SEPTEMBER 2008

Once again Simon Goodard and his amazing supportive crew hosted yet another successful and very popular clinic. "WEG" is well and truly back on their feet since the devastation of 2007. With the construction of a new club house, entire camping area, horse yards, toilets and showers, wash bays and a fantastic new surface for the dressage and showjumping.

Congratulations to the club, full credit to you, the venue is bloody amazing!! I have been teaching at the Warick clinics now for the past 4 years and I am proud to say that I am always the coach at the end of the weekend that has the least amount of falls on the board.

SECOND STOP - BURPENGARY PONY CLUB 24-25TH SEPTEMBER 2008

Karen Kurber your a true trooper. I was lucky enough to meet Karen 4 years ago when her son Todd attended a summer camp I ran in Brisbane. Todd impressed me enough, as a genuine good kid and Karen begged me to come to Burpengary, so that she could pay me to tare shreads off her teenage son, in a hour lesson of sit trot!!!! (Karen always got some satisfaction out of it and Todd whinged about getting rubbed.......everywere! But they seemed happy at the end of the day). Todd has since given up......."sit trot" for track work, but I still find myself coming back to the friendly little club at Burpengary.

It was great to teach a bunch of new faces, but also the kids that I've been helping over the past 4 years have now turned into little adults and damm that is starting to make me feel oldish!!

I was blown away by a few very nice horses and riders to match, you guys at Burpengarry certainly have talent and plenty of "Rebel Riders" in them!!

THIRD STOP - EMERALD 26TH AND 27TH SEPTEMBER 2008

Whilst in Emerald I was proposed with a new career!!! I could work in the mines for 2 weeks and than run clinics for the other 2 weeks of the month, this seemed like a good idea at the time, but Emerald  is a very long way way from ........alot of places and I just don't think I have what it takes to be a miner!

I taught dressage for 2 days, It was there I was fortunate enough to be given the indoor arena as I did see plenty of "red faces" on both parents and kids.

Thanks to Jenny Murray for inviting me along to the annual 5 day Pony Club extravaganza!! The PC kids get bombarded with instruction from every angle and have a whale of a time as was told by all.

I look forward to seeing you all again, same place in the indoor arena, loved it!!

FORTH STOP - HERVEY BAY 28TH, 29TH AND 30TH SPETEMBER 2008

I met Lyndal Roos and Sandy Clark in Rockhampton, they are dedicated parents, driving their kids for miles to attend a Rebel Morrow Clinic. I knew they were my sort of people, when 3 glasses and a bottle of of white wine appeared every afternoon at knock off time, a friendly voice would say "You look like you need a drink!". We have been friends ever since.

Hervey Bay is a great gig, their days are long though, usually starting at 7-7.30am and finishing around 5-5.30pm and teaching around 1001 kids..!! Iam sure that was my last count! I always leave Hervey Bay very worn out, but always very satisfied.

The people of the kids I teach are so hungry to learn and they know how to have fun while they do so. I love nothing better then parents getting value for their $$$, their kids use me and not ABUSE ME!!

FIFTH STOP - TOOWOOMBA 2ND-5TH OCTOBER 2008

I arrives home late Tuesday night from Hervey Bay, had one day rest (of no talking) before heading to toowomba to Chef 'de quipt for the QLD Eventing and combined training Interschool team.

Kerry Higgins and Margaret Willimas reined me in for the job. It was a great 5 days for the kids, they looked so smart in their uniforms and very proud to be there. We managed to fit in a few lessons with most of the kids, just to fine tune a few things, but these kids were all very worthy of being there!

The results were evident with QLD talking out the Eventing and Combined training gold medals!!!

Congratulations to all involved, the organizers, parents, kids....you guys did QLD proud!!
